Artbeat provides workshops in Samba drumming -the Carnival sounds of Brazil, using a range of traditional large Samba drums and smaller handheld instruments. This is an energetic, loud and fun workshop where participants will learn to play rhythms from the streets of Brazil. All sessions can be tailor-made to suit the needs and abilities of your group.

The sessions are led by professional Samba musicians and experienced facilitators including having performed and trained with premier league Samba Schools in the Rio Carnival, Brazil and award-winning Carnival Samba bands in the UK as well as internationally.

Sessions can be tailor-made to suit the needs of your group and may include warm-up exercises working with rhythm and body percussion, clapping and call and response, an introduction to the cultural context of the music, opportunities for individual and group creativity and composition. The participants will learn to play the instruments with a series of rhythms in small group sections and then as a whole group. The sections of rhythms are then put together following a series of visual and aural cues.
